Mikelia Legatou was born on the island of Chios, where she lives and works. She studied the art of making ceramics at EOMMEX in Athens in 1984-’85. Since then, she maintains her own workshop in Chios, where she also exhibits her work. She has been a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece since 1997.
